A summer of adventure and fun awaits!

For all the sea has to teach us ...
... and all the fun in learning it ...

Our 50+ Year Old Marine Science Summer Camp & Education Center

  • Since 1966 we have been serving 10 to 17 year old boys and girls passionately interested in immersing themselves in marine science and water sports.

  • Our camp offers 1 & 2 week intensive sessions emphasizing
    • Marine research and exploration using snorkeling and scuba skills
    • Traditional camp activities of sailing, lifesaving, windsurfing, photography, arts and crafts, and campcraft.

  • Day camp sessions throughout the summer and over several holiday weeks which we are very excited to announce.

  • An extraordinary campus in the Florida Keys insuring we can offer a safe, state of the art program in a breathtaking oceanfront setting.

A Family Organization With An Important Mission

  • Seacamp has been a family endeavour since its founding 50+ years ago by Irene Hooper, succeeded by her sister, Grace Upshaw, and now by Grace's son, Reece Spencer.

  • We have evolved into one of the few organizations in the United States providing experiential education in marine studies to students aged 10 to 21 years old.

  • Our programs and campus operate year-round with the mission to create awareness of the complex and fragile marine world and to foster critical thinking and informed decision making about humanity's use of natural resources.

  • We are passionate about our mission to create and nurture the next generation of leaders in this field. Many of our students and campers go on to leadership roles and return over the years in varying capacities.

Newfound Harbor Marine Institute

NHMI on YouTube

The Newfound Harbor Marine Institute (NHMI), our school program, was started in 1970 for the purpose of complementing Seacamp Association's mission to provide experiential marine science and environmental education opportunities. The NHMI program offers these opportunities from September through May for students from 4th grade through college level, as well as teachers. Approximately 5,000 students, teachers and parent chaperones enjoy this exciting and unique field trip to learn marine science each year.
